When you might need an inspection
You’ll need a DoT inspection if:
Your vehicle registration has expired or it’s unlicensed

Do I need an inspection if my rego has just expired?
Yes. Once a registration lapses, even briefly, the vehicle must be inspected before it can be licensed again.
What happens if my car doesn’t pass?
We’ll provide a clear list of the items needing repair. Once these are fixed, you can return for a re-inspection, usually within one month, at a reduced fee.
What does the inspection cover?
The inspection follows DoT requirements, checking areas such as lights, brakes, tyres, suspension, steering, seatbelts, body condition and identification numbers.
Can I drive an unlicensed vehicle to my inspection?
If your car is unlicensed, you’ll need a Temporary Movement Permit from the DoT before driving it to us.
How much does it cost?
$223.75 Inspection fees are set by the DoT.
Can you do repairs if my car fails?
Yes. We can complete most repairs on-site and prepare your vehicle for re-inspection quickly, saving you time and hassle.
